Get Those Plants Inside Your Home

March 29, 2013 By Teresa Te

Plants are very helpful both to people and the environment. While they live better outdoors, there are also plants that can be used inside the home. This is not only for aesthetic purposes but even for health reasons.

Unknown to some of you, green plants apart from beautifying the interior of one’s home can actually help in purifying the air inside your home. As such, it’s about time you get a few of them in to gain the benefits and provide a healthy abode to your family.

englishivy

English Ivy is a climbing vine that comes in varied colors and shapes. Its main benefit is helping clear out formaldehyde. What’s best about this is you can grow it as a topiary, as low planters or simply hang them in baskets.

bamboo palm

Bamboo Palm provides the same benefit as the English Ivy. It also eliminates benzene, carbon monoxide, xylene and chloroform. It’s a low-maintenance plant that should grow well in an area that receives at least two hours of direct sunlight each day. Don’t forget to water it regularly.

rubber plant

The rubber plant is another plant you can have in your home. It can live in low light and even cooler temperatures but you need to water it regularly. Its edge is in eliminating formaldehyde.

chrysanthemum

Chrysanthemums have been found by NASA scientists to be effective in removing benzene from the air. Benzene is an odorless pollutant commonly found in paints, plastic, detergents, pesticides, gasoline and pharmaceuticals. An advantage in using this is you get beautiful flowers that can last for more than a month.
